In the Cape North area
Located at the northern tip of Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, in the vicinity of Cape North (north-eastern most point on the Cabot Trail). Built in 1999, the cottage sits 200 feet back from the cliffs that tower over the waves. Situated on 100 acres of open fields (wildflowers and blueberries in season) and spruce forests...the ocean is in front and the mountains are behind. From the 8x28' front deck you have a panoramic and unobstructed view as the sun sets into the ocean. In season, you can enjoy the local Lobster or the snow crab which are caught in the bay in front of you and landed at the local fish pier. |

If you are interested in hiking, birding, biking, fishing, golf, sightseeing, whale watching or just vegging out, you'll enjoy your stay. Not far off the Cabot Trail, the cottage gives you a good base for golf at Highland Links (one of the top rated courses in the world), go whale watching or deep sea fishing from the nearby fisherman's wharf. Hike the many nearby trails along the shore or into the mountains (Cape Breton Highlands National Park is just 10 miles away). Watch the eagles soar, the guillemots fly from the cliffs or the gannets dive into the ocean. You might even see the occasional pod of whales in the bay while you sit relaxing on the deck. Watching the local fishing fleet and whale-watching tours as they make their way in and out of the harbour while you listen to their banter on our VHF-Marine radio is particular fun. The cottage is fully furnished and has a fully equipped kitchen and modern bath (Shower only, sorry, no tub). The master bedroom has a queen size bed. The second bedroom is rustic and also has a queen size bed. Comfortable living room with stereo and TV. A great place to spend time reading. If the evening gets cool, there is a woodstove and plenty of wood. Bedding, towels, dishes, cookware and utensils are supplied.
